What Begu does

Begu is a personal voice journal for language learners. You record short spoken answers to prompts in your target language; the app transcribes them, gives critique and rewrites, and tracks your fluency over time.

Your content

Everything you record (audio, transcripts, critiques, coaching analyses) belongs to you. It is stored on your device. The developer does not claim any ownership of it. You can delete entries any time from inside the app, or remove all data by uninstalling Begu.

Subscriptions

Begu Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store.

• Pricing: €4.99 / month or €49.99 / year. The final price displayed in the App Store at purchase is in your local currency and includes any applicable tax.
• Free trial: Begu Pro starts with a 7-day free trial. At the end of the trial, the subscription begins automatically and your Apple ID is charged. You can cancel any time during the trial in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Begu Pro; if you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you won't be charged.
• Auto-renewal: Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Apple charges your Apple ID on renewal.
• Managing or cancelling: On your iPhone, open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Begu Pro → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; there are no partial refunds for unused time.
• Price changes: If the subscription price changes, Apple will notify you and ask you to consent before the new price takes effect.
• Refunds: Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.

Acceptable use

Don't use Begu to record anything illegal, abusive, or that you don't have the right to record. Don't try to reverse-engineer, redistribute, or scrape the app. Don't abuse the Pro cloud-analysis endpoint (the Cloudflare Worker rate-limits per subscription).

AI-generated feedback

Begu's critique, rewrites, coaching, and pattern explanations are produced by AI models — on-device for the free tier, OpenAI's gpt-4o-mini for Pro users who have consented to cloud analysis. AI is fallible: it can occasionally be wrong, miss nuance, or give a suggestion that isn't quite right. Treat Begu's feedback as a study aid, not a definitive judgment. If you're preparing for a real exam or interview, cross-check with a teacher.

Privacy

See the privacy policy at /legal/begu/privacy. The short version: your audio never leaves your phone, free-tier transcripts never leave your phone, and Pro-tier transcripts only leave your phone if you have explicitly enabled cloud analysis.

Disclaimers

Begu is provided "as is." There is no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the AI feedback will be accurate. To the extent permitted by law, all implied warranties are disclaimed, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profit, or lost opportunity arising from your use of Begu. Total liability for any claim related to Begu is limited to the amount you paid for Begu Pro in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can stop using Begu and uninstall the app at any time. Access to Pro cloud features may be suspended or terminated if the service is abused.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. If so, this page and the date above will reflect the change. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Italy, with exclusive venue in the courts of Naples, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
