Slowbeat is a 60-second guided breath, offered right before the moments that matter. For anything not answered here, email parham.karbasi78@gmail.com — you'll get a reply.
How do I start a breath?
Open Slowbeat. The Today screen shows your next upcoming event — tap it to begin. If you don't have an event coming up, tap "Start a moment without an event" to run the same 60-second ritual any time.
Why does Slowbeat ask for calendar access?
So it can recognize the moments worth pausing for — presentations, interviews, conversations, exams — and offer a breath beforehand. Your calendar is read only on your device and is never sent anywhere. You can use the app without granting calendar access; you'll just start moments manually.
Is my data private?
Yes, completely. Slowbeat has no account, no servers, and makes no network connections. Your calendar, your breathing history, and any notes you write never leave your device. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
How do I change the breathing pattern?
Go to Settings → Breathing method and choose Box, Cyclic Sigh, or Coherent. Each is described with the research behind it.
What are the three patterns?
- Box — four counts in, four hold, four out, four rest. Symmetric and grounding.
- Cyclic Sigh — a short inhale, a second small inhale, then a long exhale.
- Coherent — five seconds in, five seconds out, no holds.
Does Slowbeat work on Apple Watch?
Yes. The Apple Watch app is a companion — tap Begin to run the same 60-second breath on your wrist, with haptics carrying the rhythm so you can keep your eyes up. It works alongside your iPhone and on its own.
Can I do the breath without looking at the screen?
Yes. Haptics carry the rhythm of each phase, so you can follow the breath eyes-up or eyes-closed. There's also an Eyes-up mode in Settings that dims the visuals.
How do I clear my history?
Go to Settings and use the option to clear your breathing history. Deleting the app also removes all of its data.
The reminder didn't appear.
Make sure notifications are enabled for Slowbeat in iOS Settings → Notifications → Slowbeat, and that the event is on a calendar Slowbeat can see (Settings → which events to watch).
